Going back a couple of days, to continue that thought process. Part of your image is what you hold on to, and thereby, what starts to define you. How many people do you know that you meet them, and soon after, you know the worst things that ever happened to them. I’m not talking in the first conversation, necessarily, but as you get to know them. These are people that are holding on to something and blaming it for everything bad that has happened to them.
2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
God responds to this, through Paul, to remind us to be transformed…

We are to change in form, condition by renewing our mind. Renewing being to be restored. So, restore our mind and transform ourselves. This allows us to prove ourselves to what is good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Now, let’s be honest, none of us are perfect. And truly, none of us are good. We all fall short. So, what are we to do? We are to strive to be like Jesus. We are to repent from the sins we commit and learn from them. We are to leave the past in the past and not live in it. We are to not hold on to the past and allow it to define us. Living in His word, His light; that is what should define us.
So, how do we accomplish that? Name it, confess it, clear it out, ask Him to fill it. Name what is holding you back, confess it, clear it from your life, and ask Him to replace it with something right.
Shelly, our keynote speak referred to these as our hurt holds. What hurt holds are holding you back? Why? Why not start the process of letting them go? Give them up to the Lord. It will take more than once, don’t give up, you CAN overcome.
