Being alive is a wonderful thing, isn’t it? It’s a great feeling. Being able to enjoy life. But what makes you alive? I observed and still observe many ‘living’ in the world that feel they are just enjoying life. Honestly, I don’t have too many issues with people doing that. It’s their choice. I’m just saddened by it. It doesn’t seem to fulfill them. They seem to have these ups and downs, peaks and valleys, that keep them wanting more and more. It does not seem to be sustainable either.
I was looking at Ephesians 2 and found the following:
1And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
2Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
And you who he has quickened, which I went over briefly before, so he who has made alive, where we were dead in trespasses and sins. Trespass means to commit a transgression or offense; transgress; offend;sin. So, those that were dead in their transgressions and sins, are made alive in Him.
Wherein in time past, so where in the past, you, or in this case, we, walked according to the world’s ways, according to the prince of the power of the air. The bible refers to Satan as the prince of the power of the air. There are different reasons behind this, that I won’t go into right now. You can reference it back to Satan with the next part of the verse which says that the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience. Disobedience referring to the laws.
Among who we also have our conversation in the past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature the children of wrath, fierce anger, even as others are as such. So, this is something that we are being told straight up that we are conversing with Satan when we are participating in the lusts of our flesh, etc.
But God, who is rich, abounding in mercy, his great love within us and for us, even when we are dead in our sins, we are made alive with Christ. We are made alive by what He has done for us. His perfect sacrifice for us. By His grace, we are saved. Solely by his grace.
So, how are we alive? Well, I am alive through him. I am thankful and grateful for Him and his grace. By learning more about Him and studying what He wants, I stay alive, and continue to live.
So, what makes you alive?
